Pulled jackfruit

Veggis pulled pork. Jackfruit is another new acquaintance for many. It is actually the world's largest fruit, of South Asian origin, so you get it mostly only canned. Asian stores are our best tip when buying jackfruit. It has a pineapple-like taste, but is a little milder and not so juicy. A new friend in the kitchen, worth getting to know. Especially for those who want a vegetarian alternative!

Pulled jackfruit
Approach

Pour the sheet of jackfruit and rinse the pieces well. Cut off the hard triangle at the bottom of each piece. Think pineapple and you will understand what we mean - this is from the stem, and can be thrown away.

Put jackfruit and rub in a bowl, and mix everything well so that all the fruit is covered with spices. Heat oil in a saucepan, add to the mixture and let it simmer for a few minutes. Add barbecue sauce and water. Bring to the boil, cover, turn down the heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the fruit begins to tenderize.

The rest of the BBQ sauce is a nice backup in case you need a little more, so it does not get dry fried. The final finish is on the grill. Place the jack-fruit in a refractory dish and grill on direct heat at 170–180 in ° C for 20 minutes. While grilling, cut the pulp into strips with two forks, almost as with "pulled pork".

Tip: This is a canon replacement for the meat's "pulled pork". Pork goodies on pizza, in burgers, for tacos and so on. Here you can test our different rubies and BBQ sauces and vary the taste from time to time.
