Italian pizza on the grill

Pizza on the grill has become the big people's favorite in recent years. That's why we have expanded the pizza range with exciting news that will take you one step closer to Italy.

Why pizza?

Before we show you the equipment to make perfect pizza on the grill, let's take a look at why pizza has become so popular.

We have long had access to good ingredients in Norway and this has probably affected our expectations of what we eat. The Italian cuisine is based on pure ingredients and honest taste and this suits Norwegian palates well. With relatively few ingredients, you conjure up taste experiences that are just as suitable for everyday life as for parties.

A little further down the page you can read more about the local variations in Italian cuisine, but before that we take a look at the equipment.

Pizza Chef

This year's big news is the Pizza Chef pizza oven. It was recommended in TEK.no, and is very fun to use! This is a gas-powered pizza oven for outdoor use, with a gas burner that reaches up to 500 degrees in 15 minutes. It then takes 1-2 minutes until you have finished cooking the pizza. The high temperature in combination with the pizza stone in the bottom gives an evenly fried pizza with a crispy crust.

If you also have an FCC BBQ rotating spade, you can rotate the pizza along the way for full control. Use a pizza spatula to take the pizza in and out of the oven. Pizza Chef has a stylish modern design and takes up little space so it is easy to store, when not in use.

Pizzabox

If you would rather make pizza on the grill you already have, you can supplement it with a Pizza Box.

FCC BBQ Pizzabox is a smart bet that you can use on the gas or charcoal grill you already have. It gives an even distribution of overheating and underheating and gives a perfect result. The pizza stone at the bottom gives the pizza a really crispy crust.

Highlights:

  • Integrated thermometer
  • Includes square pizza stone
  • Practical handles on each side
  • Place on a wire rack over the heat in a separate grill

On gas grills, preheat the pizza box for 25 to 30 minutes with the lid left, and on charcoal grills, give it 10-15 minutes to preheat before you start. Complement with the smart pizza accessories from FCC BBQ and you make full-fledged Italian pizza in no time.

Pizza stone on the grill

Many of our gas grills come with built-in MGS, i.e. Multi Grill System, which gives the grill even more uses. Insert a pizza stone, heat the grill and the stone well and bake a good pizza. It's that simple!

The pizza stone is made of cordierite, which ensures that the pizza base becomes crispy and good in the Italian way through high heat. Only also used as a baking stone for other types of pastries. It is available in two variants, one of which is glazed black, as seen in the picture above.

Geography and raw materials

The food culture you find in Italy is a result of geographical conditions and historical events. There are noticeably large differences between northern Italian and southern Italian cuisine. The main reason is that this long country extends over several climate zones and therefore has large climatic variations.

In the south you will find the food that has the most typical Mediterranean character. A lot of olive oil, anchovies, capers, olives, garlic and chili are used here. Southern Italy is also by far the best at tomato sauces for pasta and pizza.

In northern Italy, dairy products make their mark on food to the greatest extent. Cheese, cream and butter give the food a rounder and slightly heavier taste. Here they also use much more potatoes, rice, clipfish, sausages and nuts in the dishes.

The food varies not only from place to place, but also from family to family, and it has proved difficult to agree on what is the "right" Italian food.

Feel free to use pizza toppings such as mozzarella, oregano, mushrooms, olives, ham or artichokes. Or what about a Norwegian twist with sausage, smoked salmon, fennel or chanterelle?

It's your grill, so it's you who decides.
